greater group, together with PMDL, successfully completed Phase 2 of the French International School (FIS) Hong Kong refurbishment project in two months during the school holidays in 2022. With greater group retaining its position as lead consultant and management contractor of this large-scale project, the teams consistently applied the exact high-quality and well-thought implementation of the creative design, budget and cost-effective solutions they carried out in Phase 1.
FIS HK’s Phase 2 refurbishments included 15 classrooms, 1 library, the school counsellor’s office, new facade works and all new windows. The international school’s new interior and exterior designs are a step up to the overall modern on-campus experience where design and architecture also impact the learning and growth of everyone—from students to teachers and other school staff, who belong at FIS.

The complementary palette of bright yellow, orange, blue and grey against the laminated wooden interiors dominates the FIS classrooms, office and library. Both natural and ambient lights flowing from the ceiling and large panel windows, as well as the fixtures, accentuate the vibrant, youthful and colourful walls and vinyl floors.
The 3D functional objects found in the spaces, such as the tables, wall shelves and semicircle bookshelves, provide a zestful atmosphere that is highly appropriate in a dynamic learning space. Overall, phase 2’s completion integrates a cohesive design and functional space planning that supports the learning experience and strengthens active engagement in an educational environment.
Established in 1963, the French International School is one of the largest international schools in Hong Kong with four different campuses and more than 2,700 students from 40 different countries.
