      SILK Laser Clinics

      Silk

workplace efficiency & retaining brand identity

Melbourne, Australia – Jul 2019 – SILK Laser Clinics enlisted greater group to provide interior design, build and project management services including the build for 18 of their clinics. Three overriding design strategies were layered: workplace efficiency, retaining brand identity and the creation of a warm space that would be inviting for clients. The mood of this space was set by blending traditional and contemporary elements and keeping a warm neutral colour palette.

A paradigm shift in the perception of how medical space interiors are supposed to look like has seen a trend towards aesthetically pleasing, functionally efficient and patient-centric designs in recent years.

SILK Laser Clinics uses Medical Grade lasers by trained therapists to ensure their clients are treated within a safe, professional and ethical environment. To reflect their brand mission, greater group worked on a concept that showcases both their brand aesthetic sensibilities and the team’s medical expertise. The end result is a harmonious design incorporating natural elements to harness the power of nature in the healing setting of the clinic. These elements range from incorporating timber and ambient lighting to balancing the presence of metals, plastics and white-washed walls, creating a welcoming environment for clients while maintaining a polished clinic interior.

      The Goal

      AESTHETICS & ACCESSBILITY

greater group was tasked with renewing the clinic design to ensure the aesthetics and overall environment bring out their core identity as an Australian favourite among laser, skin and cosmetics injectables clinic. To avoid the cold and aseptic atmosphere so typical of spaces like these, the team worked on an aesthetically pleasing interior design concept with an enhanced customer experience to make visitors feel relaxed and at ease.

The brief for greater group also included new product display joinery that had to integrate smoothly into the spatial flow of their business. In addition, to increase customer engagement and reduce collateral clutter, SILK Laser Clinics also sought an alternative to print brochures, which was accomplished through multi-media LED-monitors.

      The Challenge

      REFRESH NOT REINVENT

During the consultancy stage, greater group also took into consideration factors such as rapid technology changes in the medical field where equipment needs replacing and new treatments are being developed.

To achieve this, the team researched on design concepts to accommodate such changes and future-proof the client’s investment. With locations all over Australia, the design strategy needs to cater for flexibility and easy implementation for nation-wide rollout.

      The Solution

      SUBTLE & STRIKING

The use of natural timber, LED under-lighting and open-plan layout combined to create a sense of lightness and comfort to the otherwise mechanical and hygienic environment. A central reception area forms the focal point of the main space where the illuminated brand logo against the white glossy cladding contrasts with the black feature window to create a striking entrance.

LED halo lights were placed in the timber portal, timer arch, product displays and reception signage to add dimension and emphasize the geometry of the interiors.

Sleek digital screens showcasing product and services information were installed to replace printed marketing material.

      SCALABLE & FLEXIBILE

To ensure consistency in future adaptations at other SILK Laser Clinics, greater group designed a modular and scalable concept for multi-store rollout and an easy to install joinery system with adjustable parts.
